Mission Statement:
As a community, we, the members of Sacred Heart Parish, see as our mission the carrying on of the work of Christ. We thrive to do this by being a sign of God's presence in the Freeport community - a sign of healing, reconciliation, compassion, love, fellowship, and human dignity. Just as Christ was the sacrament of God's saving presence to the world, so must we, as a community, be a sacrament here in Freeport. We will be this by modeling our lives after Christ through our:
-
Prayerful worship in communal and individual lives,
-
Prophetic witness in living out the Gospel and challenging others to do the same, and
-
Loving service to each other and to the poor, the needy, and the neglected of the world.
With the Sacred Heart as our inspiration, we set forth on this mission by committing ourselves to continual efforts of renewal as a worshipping Christian community, by our on-going efforts to create new and better structures through which the Gospel may be proclaimed, and by being responsive to the needs of the community.
